Sheldon Motley
At-Large Alternate Delegate

My name is Sheldon Motley, and I need your help.
I have been selected by the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party to be an At-Large Alternate Delegate (For explanation see pgs. 9-12 here) pledged to Barack Obama for the Democratic National Convention (Site), August 25-28, 2008 in Denver. As an At-Large Alternate Delegate, I will be in the arena, in this case the Pepsi Center in Denver(Link), and will be able to be on the main floor of the convention to vote if a Delegate wishes to leave the floor or chooses to not make the trip to Denver. With many caucus meetings elsewhere in convention cities, Delegates apparently do choose to leave the floor. Following the rules, they can and do give their credentials to Alternates.

Let me tell you a bit about myself: I am 47 years of age, have 5 years of college. I am a leader in this state and in Southeastern Pennsylvania for the Obama campaign and have been working essentially full-time as a volunteer for the Obama candidacy since May 1, 2007.
I served as Co-Chair of the Pennsylvania Field Team organized with Chicago's direction over the five months prior to the campaign's arrival, including organizing and leading the two Pennsylvania Canvassing and GOTV (Get Out The Vote) trips to New Hampshire, as well as serving on the Pennsylvania delegate selection committee.
I also focused on Philadelphia. I worked diligently helping with the May 22nd (2007) Barack Obama Electric Factory event in Philadelphia, the June 9th (2007) Walk for Change event and many events in Philadelphia since, and I worked hard in Philadelphia in the 6 weeks prior to the primary election.
I am Co-Chair of Philadelphia for Obama.
There are costs involved in the trip to the Democratic National Convention.
Because I have been volunteering full-time for Barack Obama, my finances make it next to impossible to go to Denver. The Pennsylvania Delegation stays in a hotel that costs $230 + tax and fees per room, per night. One is required to stay a minimum of 4 nights. As you know, travel to Denver will not be inexpensive.
I ask for your contribution of $10, $15, $25, $50, even $100 if you can afford it. Please call me at 484-340-7181 or email me at pennsylvania.delegate.for.obama@gmail.com with any questions or concerns. Any amount that you are able to contribute will be greatly appreciated! Help me help elect Barack Obama as the next President of the United States.
